The Stockholm Archipelago

Whatever the season, the Stockholm Archipelago is something special.

The Stockholm Archipelago is the largest archipelago in Sweden and the second largest in the Nordic region. The Stockholm Archipelago is a broad term and there are many different definitions. The archipelago consists of 30,000 islands and, as mentioned, there are different opinions about where it begins and ends. Our definition of an archipelago villa is that it should be located where the sea and nature are most present. It could be on an island, but it could also be on the mainland. Either way, it should be easy to get to and not too far from Stockholm. If it's an island, there should be a good connection to get there.

In the Stockholm archipelago you can find inspiration and gather energy, as many have done in the past. August Strindberg, Evert Taube, Anders Zorn, Prince Eugen and Astrid Lindgren are just a few examples.

It is a privilege to have your own holiday home with a "we at Saltkråkan" feeling. It can be a wooden villa with a classic red-painted facade and white knots, a beautiful wooden villa in the national romantic style, or a modern villa that becomes one with nature.

For generations, the Stockholm archipelago has had a place in the cultural history of both Stockholm and Sweden. There is much to discover in the archipelago and you could spend a lifetime exploring all the gems around the archipelago.

Whether you have your own boat or join the Waxholm boats, it's a great place to take a trip on the water. Kayaking, SUPing, fishing or just relaxing on the terrace are all summer activities. In the fall, there's plenty of forest to pick berries and mushrooms. In winter, it can freeze solid, so you can go long-distance skating or crawl on the couch with a pair of wool socks. There's nothing wrong with catching the first rays of spring with a cup of coffee.
